In 4 days, being 6th December, it has been exactly 6 months since I had my below knee amputation of my left leg. I really have no idea where the last 6 months has gone, but something I do know is that it has been mostly hell.
Yesterday I met with my new NDIA Level 3 CoS, I haven’t met my Level 2 yet as she is away until January, at home and hopefully soon my supports will be back in place. At the moment with how things are going I would not recommend Fairhaven support services on the Central Coast at all, they will pull your supports within no notice and leave you stranded for weeks on end. And then move you to another CoS service and then you have to start all over again with a new service, so pretty much after 5 months, it is now back to starting all over again, so not very impressed.
Finally NDIA has given just over the $30k for my prosthetics for the next 12 months, this cost covers my 2 legs, a normal one and a waterproof one as well as my reports and appt.’s that are needed. This now puts my NDIA funding for the next 12 months at just over $191,000. This is what my support need costs for just 12 months is and this goes from everywhere to support workers to get to appt.’s, to social gatherings, to shopping, to wheelchair maintenance costs, there is so much this money is there to support my disability needs. The only thing it doesn’t cover is my day-to-day costings, such as rent, electricity, water, internet etc.
Also now my new CoS company is involved they have got move done in the last 1 ½ days than what my other place tried to get done in nearly 1 ½ months. I even had a new OT out today to look at the wheelchair and medication issues around home, a thing the other company said they couldn’t find, so my thoughts now are did they even really look? And the way things are looking I could have my supports back in place next week sometime, which is exactly what I need.
I just can not believe it is only a few days away from being 6 months, even though about 4 ½ months of those was spent in hospital.
Anyway it’s nearing midnight, so this is me now calling it a night and more blog posts coming soon on a lot of different topics from family and friends, to more health concerns, to the foreseeable further of my right leg after an appt. just this week with my Vascular Team. But more on that soon.
